Upgrades at Adojji Server

My favourite scripting and database software is Windows-only, so I'm "forced" to use a WinMachine for development and hosting. My main Windows development machine is here at home, in a central part of the house (my kitchen table), and it needs to be turned off at night so I can sleep. Hence, I call it a "day server". HTTP requests would be served up from morning til night, but would not be available overnight.

Over the last couple of years, I've been working more and more with FreeBSD, a no-nonsense, Open Source UNIX operating system. I've had a FreeBSD machine running 24/7 in my storage/utility room for 2 years, but it's been doing more mundane things - Samba for backups, database explorations, etc. Only recently have I had the time to put some ideas to work - in this case, an always-on webserver with a reverse proxy that will serve up the Windows-specific content when it is available or give a custom error message overnight. (I will be working on those custom error messages ... soon!) No, the theory ain't rocket science but actually making stuff work can take several tries to get it right.
