The eyes of the Virgin of the Moat stare out from the Cathedral of Intercession, hooded and solemn, yet the corners of her mouth remain upturned, wryly amused at the tragic machinations of mankind. KcK's reverses the colors of St Basil's Cathedral from reds to blues, in a commentary on the fine political line between the Left and Right.

Blue Pesto's' brilliance is in its myriad of layers. It also alludes to the popular legend that Ivan the Terrible had the cathedral's architect, Postnik Yakovlev, blinded to prevent him from building a more magnificent building for anyone else. Kck presents the Virgin as both observer and subject, beyond the reach of the terrible Tsar, yet mute witness to his insane wrath. Crosses on the onion domes, and the triple Pekingese-style nostrils, illustrate the constant underlying tension between Orthodox and Animist influences behind the Tsar.
